During the long hot summer of 2006, whilst conjuring up their beloved musical potion INVOLUTION, Monte and Bru seriously began to contemplate a plan for the next logical step that had been independently evolving in both of their minds: Freon Rig Records. At the forefront of their decision was the freedom of being co-captains of their own ship by controlling every aspect of their output. “…Being able to create and supply our music directly to the world equates, for us, true artistic freedom. It also gives us so much joy to share that artistic freedom with other like minded artists and help their musical creations become more available to a wider audience as well.”
Like any other musicians, in their youth they had dreamed of being signed by the labels of their favourite bands. Those were the labels that seemed to nurture and develop their artist to their highest potential. They wondered if any labels, in this day could be less business and more about the unhindered creation of amazing music. Monty and Bru were sure that a few special labels were still in existence but they didn’t want to have to spend years sorting the “chaff from the wheat” and selling their souls during the process. They felt this was the real beauty of this amazing era of internet distribution. They knew that even the most successful music entrepreneurs like Richard Branson, Russell Simons and many others all started somewhere. They felt (like many other talent artists who decide to go indie) that they are worthy and highly capable enough to succeed at it.
It is this self-belief and commitment to music and art that has led to the birth of Freon Rig Records with love and nurture at its core.
“The prime aspect of Freon Rig is nurture. Allowing our other artists and ourselves the freedom to grow whilst at the same time giving them the security of having a team around them to support and advise them as necessary. As artist ourselves, it gives us a special prospective of their needs. We just treat and respect them as artist the way we would want to be treated. Freon Rig represents space, not a straight-jacket!”
