MEBA, the incredible fusion of two highly creative individuals:
MONTERRIA ELLIS and BRU AMEY.
Bio:
In 2005, two young aspiring musicians, Monterria and Bru, decided to get together and have a bit of musical play. Thus, MEBA was born. Having spent a considerable amount of time professionally honing their individual skills, by working with other producers and artists, they felt they were ready to create the type of music they loved. "We wanted to probe the boundaries of genre, exploring sound and vocals without the constriction of an accepted musical canon." Both are highly capable producers, songwriters and vocalist so they don’t have that typical producer-vocalist setup. They create everything together! From the outset they have held the belief that their music should be completely original without the use of third party sampling. Everything is of their own composition and orchestration. In return, this freedom has allowed MEBA to seamlessly fuse genres into an organic sound without losing the influential echoes of artists they admire. They call their sound Futuristic Electronic-Urban Pop!
The result is their debut album "INVOLUTION." "This album reflects the beauty and depths of emotional intimacy and the journey getting there. It's about all the different aspects of falling and being in love."
Their decision to produce their music independently has since led them to set up their own indie label Freon Rig Records. They currently have, not including MEBA, two artists on their roster.
In 2006 they performed at the K Summer Party held at the Festival Theatre, Cornwall. This inaugural performance was to be the test ground from which they would discover if their initial studio based work could be brought to a live audience. It was a test they passed with flying colours. The packed Falmouth auditorium was left wanting more!
The band has an increasing online fan base through their websites at www.mebabubble.com and www.myspace.com/mebabubble.

The following text is from a June 2007 WMUL Radio interview transcript with MEBA, describing their meeting and how they work (questions asked by DJ AL Saniuk.) :
AL: How did you guys meet?
Bru: We first “met” in 2002 when a Lightning Head remix project came up for my old production team that featured Monterria’s vocals and lyrics, but we did not physically meet until 18 months later.
Monterria: I loved their remix and had been intrigued about them. As fate stepped in, we were both at this mad rave and neither of us knew who the other was. I just randomly stumbled over to Bru and said he was cute but should cut his hair. We even danced together a few times but it was another year again until we met and actually realized we’d been looking to work with each other.
When did you decided to start making music?
Monterria: Meba was born in May 2005. We’d worked on another little project with
a couple of other musicians. It was crazy because we weren’t into the same type of music that the others were into so the results were less than satisfactory for all. So Bru and I went down our own road and they went down theirs. Best decision we ever made!
Why decide to start making music together?
Bru: Because of the excitement of ideas that we saw together. It was great to meet someone that wanted to explore the edges of the genres.
Monterria: Also we wanted to create music that we could love!
Why do you choose the kind of music you produce?
Monterria: We didn’t choose to do this kind of music, it just evolved. When we began to work together we decided there would be no musical rules that we needed to follow other than creating every sound from scratch by not using samples and to make those sounds beautiful.
We go in the studio and literally “play” with sounds, vocals and beats…we have no contrived direction other than it has to be beautiful, light or dark; that doesn’t matter. We have to love it!
We’ve put all of our different musical influences into one pot and the songs form themselves. Sometimes we would forget that a particular track existed only to discover it again months later. Once the song has taken some real shape, we love and nurture it until it matures. Our songs are like children, no two or a like and all are special to us.
